NATCHEZ — The Lawrence County Lady Cougars outscored Natchez’sLady Bulldogs 18-11 Monday in slowpitch softball action. Theyfinished with 20 hits.

Kaila Givens (9-3) pitched the victory. Whitney Brown wascharged with the loss.

At the plate, 4 hits by Jasmine Courtney, including a double,directed the triumph. Ryane Garrett, Megan McCloud and Kate Davishad 3 hits apiece. McCloud tripled. Jessica Johnson and Emily Smithboth had 2 hits. Kenyachta Myers, Ellie Fairburn and Givens alsohit safely as LCHS took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inningand increased the margin to 13-2 in the fourth.

Natchez was led in batting by Wenhifer Noble who tripled.Candace Frye had 3 hits.

In the JV game, Lawrence County cruised to a16-5 victory.

LCHS, coached by Tarvey Ward, hosts McComb Thursday, starting at6 p.m.
