Two arrested in sale, possession of cocaine

Two Silver Creek men were in custody at the Lawrence County Jailon drug charges after authorities found a large amount of crackcocaine in one of the men’s home, law enforcement officialssaid.
Robert Brown, 33, of 1219 N.A. Sandifer Highway, was chargedwith sale of cocaine and possession of crack cocaine with theintent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, LawrenceCounty Sheriff Joel Thames said. Lamar Horton, 30, of 87 HookerRoad, was charged with sale of crack cocaine.
An initial hearing for the men was scheduled for 11 a.m. thismorning, Thames said.
Dwayne Tullos, an agent with the Pearl River Basin NarcoticsTask Force, said law enforcement officials were informed of theactivity by concerned citizens and began an investigation.
“This was an extensive investigation conducted over the lastnine months,” he said. “Agents of the Lawrence County Sheriff’sOffice and Pearl River Basin Narcotics Task Force have purchasedcocaine from them at their residences during theinvestigation.”
Sheriff’s deputies, task force agents and agents with theMississippi Bureau of Narcotics served search and arrest warrantson the men around 3 a.m. this morning.
The search of Brown’s home found 35 rocks of crack cocaineweighing approximately 5.8 grams. Thames estimated the street valueof the cocaine at $1,050. A Cadillac, Dodge truck, camcorder, threeshotguns, nine rifles, three handguns and $640 in cash were alsoseized.
Officers found no evidence of illegal activity at Horton’sresidence, and he was charged only with the alleged sale to theundercover agent, Thames said.
