BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Bobcats ended their four-gamelosing streak Friday night with a lopsided 50-19 Region 4-1A winover the St. Aloysius Flashes from Vicksburg on Troy Smith Field.It thrilled large homecoming crowd.

Bogue Chitto (1-4, 1-2) finished the game with 581 totaloffensive yards. The Bobcats had 13 first downs and 44 rushes for501 yards.

St. Aloysius (1-4, 1-2) collected 10 first downs and 290 yardson offense. The Flashes completed 9 of 19 passes for 204 yards andwere intercepted three times. They rushed the football 29 times for86 yards.

“It was a great win,” said Bogue Chitto head coach GarethSartin. “We had just one turnover in the fourth quarter. Turnovershave been our Achilles heel. We had great play from our offensiveand defensive lines.”

Brightest start for the Bobcvats was quarterback Dontae Ratcliffcarried the football nine times for 217 yards and four rushingtouchdowns. Junior running back Corey Washington powered BogueChitto’s rush with 13 carries for 156 yards and a touchdown.

An 8-yard run by Ratcliff followed by a extra-point kick fromErik Allen put Bogue Chitto up 7-0 at the 6:10 mark in the firstquarter. Allen kicked 4 out of 7 PATs on the night.

In second-quarter action, the Bobcats recorded two TDs and asafety for 14 points and pushed their lead over the Flashes to 21-0at the half. Richard Williams forced a 2-point safety. Washingtonbroke loose for a 19-yard TD and Ratcliff connected on a 14-yardtouchdown pass to Robert Bullock.

Bogue Chitto came out in the third quarter and put up 23unanswered points for a 44-0 lead with 6:53 left. Ratcliff explodedfor an 83-yard touchdown, Porter forced a safety, Ratcliff rambledfor a 23-yard TD. Lyvanda Carmichael found running room and scoredon a 36-yard burst.

The Flashes recorded their first TD of the game with 6.5 secondsleft in the third quarter. Junior quarterback Daniel Halinskicompleted a 66-yard pass to freshman Chip Donald for the score. TheFlashes failed on their first two of three PAT attempts.

“The game was over before we scored,” said St. Aloysius headfootball coach Jim Taylor after the game. “Bogue Chitto whipped us.We didn’t play very good. I knew Bogue Chitto had a better teamthan their record indicated. We made some first game mistakes.”

St. Aloysius scored with 6:33 remaining in the game on a 30-yardkickoff fumble return by sophomore Joseph Sudderth to cut thedeficit to 44-12.

With 4:17 left in the game, Ratcliff scrambled down the rightsideline for the final Bobcat touchdown and a 50-12 lead.

The Flashes’ final score came with 43 seconds remaining on a39-yard pass-play from Donald to Sudderth. Thomas Escourse kickedthe PAT to trim the deficit to 50-19.

Ratcliff and Lagne Porter combined at quarterback to go 5 of 6for 84 yards.

Defensively, Carmichael and Porter led theBobcats with seven tackles apiece. Porter also recorded two sacks.Making six stops was Robert Anderson. Intercepting a pass wereAnderson, Porter and Ratcliff.

St. Aloysius travels to Salem and Bogue Chitto is on the road atWest Lincoln Friday night for more division tests. The games kickoff at 7 p.m.
