Division 7-1A slowpitch softball champion West Lincoln whippedrival Enterprise 15-3 Monday at West Lincoln. The Lady Bears (19-5,9-0), coached by Andrew Redd, finished with 16 hits and scored 9runs in the first frame.

“It’s always nice to score a lot of runs in the first inning,”said Redd. “That puts us in the drivers’ seat.”

Redd’s girls conclude regular-season play Thursday at Salem.They’ll participated in Saturday’s Ole Brook Classic at the HanselKing Sportsplex.

Two of Redd’s players missed yesterday’s game due to injuries,third baseman Holli Smith (knee) and substitute Keri Easley missedthe game due to a strained quad. Left-centerfielder AshleyPalomarez aggravated an injury (quad) while chasing a fly ball.

Offensively, the Lady Bears were led by Lauren Smith, BrittanySmith and Ashley Palomarez who singled and doubled. Alicia Kennedy,Brittany Phillips, April Kennedy and Kacey Smith singled twice.Heater Huff doubled and Kelsey Smith singled.

Phillips was the winning pitcher in the 5-inning game. AmandaPrice absorbed the loss as Enterprise fell to 10-6 overall and 5-4in the division. The Lady Yellow Jackets have qualified for thestate playoffs.

“West Lincoln hit the ball well and played solid defense,” saidEnterprise head coach Steve Sasser. “They have a great shot atstate.

“I believe we will bounce back,” Sasser added. “We will playhard Thursday and in the playoffs.”

Sasser’s team scored twice in the second and trailed 9-2. Theywere led by Melane Rutland who singled twice. Lyndsay Everettdoubled. Nicole Sandifer, Whitney Kyzar, Jana Brister and KaylinBurke singled.

West Lincoln plays at Salem Thursday and Enterprise hosts BogueChitto at 5 and 6 p.m.

In the JV game, West Lincoln beat Enterprise8-4. The Lady Jackets were led by Ashley Greer who singled twice.Erika Rutland doubled.
