Brook girls pound Lady Tigers

The host Brookhaven Lady Panthers whipped the McComb Lady Tigers21-2 in Region 6-4A slowpitch softball action Thursday at theHansel King Sportsplex.

Ashley Sykes powered Brookhaven with a home run, a double and asingle. Allyson Wallace homered and singled. Ripping a triple and 2singles was Kayla Prince. Three singles were blasted by TerriHodges. Doubling and singling twice was Christi Martin. Adding adouble and a single was Kelly Vinson.

Brittany Smith (23-2, 10-0) was the winning pitcher. TiffanyShacklefoot absorbed the loss.

Contributing to the Lady Panthers’ win with 2 singles each wereCasi Langston, Brittany Smith and Lauren Smith. Singling was TaylorCrane.

Carla Hart, Marla Wells, Katelan Varnell, Shacklefoot and MeganStogner singled for McComb.

Junior varsity

Brookhaven crushed McComb 7-0. Brianna Ashmore (8-1-1) postedthe win while Mandy Reid absorbed the loss.

Powering the Lady Panthers at the plate were Jana Wallace andCasi Langston with a double and a single apiece . Amanda McIntyrecollected a pair of singles. Kelsey Freeman singled.

Brookhaven hosts a softball tournament Saturday at theSportsplex. Joining the Lady Panthers are West Lincoln, BogueChitto, Wesson, North Pike, Lawrence County, Natchez and Pearl. Twofields will be used with the first two games beginning at 9a.m.
