FC Bulldogs jam Jefferson

MEADVILLE — As Homecoming celebrations go, the Franklin CountyBulldogs celebrated theirs in style Friday night with anelectrifying 45-0 win over the Jefferson County Tigers. TheBulldogs got three touchdowns and 225 all-purpose yards from seniorquarterback Jasper O’Quinn en route to the win.

“Offensively we came out and did really well,” said Bulldog headcoach Anthony Hart. “We played strong on both sides of theball.”

Hart watched his Dawgs (6-0, 2-0) take a 38-0 lead intohalftime, before Jefferson County’s Tigers could catch theirbreath. Franklin used three scoring runs of 31, 3, and one fromO’Quinn. Sophomore fullback Gary Rogers added the other two scoresoff scampers of four and two yards. Sophomore kicker Dane Hodgesconnected on a 27-yard field goal to end the half.

“I’m proud of how we played,” added Hart. “It was a teameffort.”

In the second half, Franklin added their last score of the nightin the third frame off a 10-yard jog from senior running backDeandrea Cameron to make it 45-0. Cameron’s touchdown run was his14th of the year.

As for Jefferson (3-3, 1-2), the Tigers were held to a meager123 yards of total offense. The visitors fumbled the ball fourtimes and were sacked seven times by the vaunted Franklin Countydefense. The Bulldogs collected their third shutout of the year,and second straight.

“Defense hustled tonight,” continued Hart. “They came out andtook over.”

Leading the Bulldogs on defense was junior linebacker D.J. Shawwith nine tackles. Junior defensive end Marcus Tillman added sevenhits, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. Senior Jonathan Brooksfinished with six hits and a interception, while 6-6, 310-poundfreshmen defensive tackle Bo Tillman added six tackles and a sack.Andrew Williams, Jeremy Owen, and Jonte’ Marshall each recoveredfumbles.

Offensively the Bulldogs got 146 yards of groundwork fromO’Quinn on 10 carries. Cameron added 80 yards on 13 carries, whileRogers finished with 30 yards on nine carries.

In the air, O’Quinn was 2-of-5 for 60 yards. Brooks hauled in a35-yard reception, while junior Abren Williams added a 25-yardcatch.

The Bulldogs travel to Hazlehurst Friday for a key Region 7-3Ashowdown. Kickoff has been set for 7:30.
