Lady ‘Cats have fun beating Franklin Co.

BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats tuned up for theClass 1A state slowpitch softball playoffs by whipping FranklinCounty 18-8 Monday on Stan Long Field. The Lady ‘Cats took a 12-0lead in the second inning and Coach Scott Leggett was able to playhis junior varsity the remainder of the game.
“We had fun tonight,” said Leggett. “We didn’t get anybody hurtand my JV team played a lot. I’m proud of all my girls, especiallymy seniors. Now we must get ready for the playoffs.
Bogue Chitto (19-8) hosts Puckett Thursday in the opening round.The best-of-three series starts at 2 p.m. and admission is $5. Onlystate passes will be accepted.
Latoya Braxton pitched yesterday’s victory. She struck out 1batter and walked 2 in the 6-inning game.
Kaci Moak was charged with the loss. She walked 5 and struck outnone.
A home run by Shaquille Burton powered BC’s attack. Meleah Browntripled and singled. Haley Roberts tripled and Brynna Wallacedoubled. Also hitting safely were Dori Hall, Candace Avants,Chelsey Miller, Morgan Roberts, Candace Braxton and KaylaSmith.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Vanity Green who homered andtripled. Valerie Gowe, Taylor Stewart, Kaci Mack and Monea Cameronsingled.
In the JV game, Bogue Chitto romped to an 11-3victory. A double and a single by Caitlin Owens led BC in batting.Blaine Myers singled twice. Hannah Nichols, Morgan Roberts,Shaquille Burton and Kelli Howard singled.
