Services for Laura Virginia Holmes of Jayess are 2 p.m. Sunday,Oct. 17 at Pine Grove Pentecostal Church in Jayess with burial inthe church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Holmes, 71, died Oct. 16, 2004, at Silver Cross NursingHome in Brookhaven. She was born in Jayess on May 5, 1933, to R.D.Wallace and Ivy Inez Wallace.

She was a retired seamstress from Kellwood Manufacturing inMonticello. She was a member of Pine Grove Pentecostal ChurchCemetery in Jayess. She was a member of the Monticello VFWchapter.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, OscarFord Holmes.

Survivors are her daughters, Virginia Ann Watts of Baton Rouge,La., Vicky Lynn Malino, and Veronica Sue Howell, both ofMonticello; her sons, Oscar Holmes Jr., Ronnie D. Holmes and DavidHolmes, all of Monticello, and Donald Holmes of Poplarville; hersisters, Mae Boyd of Jayess and Rose Myers of Brookhaven; and herbrother, John Henry Wallace of Tickfaw, La.

Graveside services with burial for Elizabeth Pell of NewOrleans, La., are noon Monday, Oct. 18 at Stronghope Baptist ChurchCemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pell, 83, died Oct. 16, 2004, at Lindy Boggs Hospital inNew Orleans, La. She was born on Dec. 1, 1920, to Sim Swilley andSophie Furr Swilley.

She was a Homemaker and former substitute schoolteacher. She wasa member of Riverside Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John E. Pell Sr.; andher brother, Harold Swilley.

Survivors are her daughter, Sharon Etheredge of Conroe, Texas;her son, John E. Pell Jr. of New Orleans, La.; her sisters, MerleFurlow of Jackson and Mary Rasbach of Memphis, Tenn.; fivegrandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
