BOGUE CHITTO — With four straight wins in their pocket, theBogue Chitto Bobcats are looking for their fifth Friday night whenthey host the tough Mt. Olive Pirates in a key Region 4-1A matchup.The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Troy Smith Field.

In other Lincoln County action Friday night, Mize is atEnterprise, West Lincoln visits Stringer and Hinds AHS invades LoydStar.

Bogue Chitto (4-4, 4-2) rallied for two, fourth-quartertouchdowns last Friday to beat Salem 25-24 in a big region game.The Bobcats are coached by Garreth Sartin.

Mt. Olive fell to Mize 49-24 last Thursday in a regionshowdown.

“They (Mt. Olive) are very good,” said Sartin. “All of theirskill people are really athletic. Pierre Feazell, theirquarterback, is probably the best athlete we have faced. MarcusBaggett is their top receiver, a big strong kid who goes out andgets the football. He will be tough to cover. Their offense anddefensive lines are big up front. They have a lot of goodplayers.”

In the win over Salem, Cory Washington powered the Bogue Chittorunning game with 18 rushes for 76 yards. Quarterback DantaeRatcliff carried 10 times for 80 yards. Ratcliff also returned akickoff for a touchdown.

Ratcliff completed 10 of 15 passes for 144 yards for the Bobcatsand was intercepted once. Lange Porter caught seven passes for 78yards.

Defensively, Washington and Porter led Bogue Chitto with 10tackles apiece.

“This is a key test for us,” added Sartin. “We have to continuewinning to get into the playoffs. The key is we have to eliminateour turnovers and not give up the big plays.”

In last year’s game, Bogue Chitto beat Mt. Olive 32-21.

Enterprise, coached by Mac Bezet, ended its four-game losingstreak last Friday with a 30-14 victory over the Region 4-1A St.Aloysius Flashes. The Yellow Jackets (3-5, 2-4) host the undefeatedMize Bulldogs (8-0, 6-0) for a key Region 4-1A test Friday.

Bezet watched films on Mize and discussed the Bulldogs’ strongpoints. “They have speed, quickness and size. They can throw orrun. They have several people that can toe the ball. Theirquarterback is as good as their runningback.

“Defensively, they are aggressive,” continued Bezet. “They arewell coached. They play good technique.”

In the win over Salem, Terrell May rushed the football 24 timesfor 257 yards and a touchdown. Blake McKee, who scored twotouchdowns, rushed six times for 39 yards before sustaining abroken leg. McKee, who was one of the fastest players on the team,is out for the remainder of the season.

“The name of the game is speed,” stated Bezet. “When you loseyour speed, it puts you in the hole. You hate to see anyone getinjured. Blake is a good, conscientious kid. He loved the game.We’ll miss him.” According to Bezet, McKee played various positionsincluding slotback, wingback and cornerback. He also returnedpunts.

Jacket quarterback Cory Everett completed 4 of 6 passes for 51yards against St. Al.

Linebacker Chris Moak, The DAILY LEADER Defensive Player of theWeek, led the Jacket defense with 12 1/2 tackles and a quarterbacksack.

Last season, Mize downed Enterprise 37-7.

West Lincoln, coached by Brooks Burns, is looking to make it twowins in-a-row Friday when they visit the Red Devils at Stringer ina Region 4-1A test. Last Thursday, the Bears (1-7, 1-5) won theirfirst game of the season with a 20-8 victory over Salem.

Stringer (3-3, 3-4) fell to region foe Natchez Cathedral 12-6last Friday.

Freshman tailback Darnell Sampson powered the Bears with 29carries for 210 yards and scored three touchdowns. Sampson wasnamed The DAILY LEADER’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Directing the West Lincoln defense with 15 tackles was CaseyRoberts.

Stringer handed West Lincoln a 48-12 loss last year.

Loyd Star, coached by Wade Henderson, continues to battlethrough injures as the Hornets (3-5, 0-3) prepare for Hinds AHS.The Hornets fell to Madison St. Joe 46-0 last Friday.

Hinds AHS (5-3, 1-2) is coming off a tough 21-20 region loss toMcLaurin.

In the loss to St. Joe last Friday, Loyd Star was led by MichaelBritt with nine rushes for 68 yards. Moses Tillman carried 14 timesfor 29 yards.

Last year, Loyd Star knocked off Hinds AHS 16-14.
