Hattie Ratcliff Parker

Services for Hattie Ratcliff Parker of Summit are 11 a.m.Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Adams United Methodist Church in Auburn, Miss.with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.Hartman Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Parker, 92, died Oct. 30, 2004, at Franklin County Hospitalin Meadville. She was born July 2, 1912, in Lincoln County to Rankand Ella Ratcliff.

Mrs. Parker served her country by becoming one of the firstwomen in Mississippi to join the Women’s Army Corp. She served from1942-45 and attained the rank of captain.

Mrs. Parker earned her undergraduate degree from Copiah-LincolnJunior College, her B.A. from the University of SouthernMississippi and her Master’s from Mississippi State University. Shewas a teacher. She was a member of Adams United MethodistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Roy H.Parker; and a brother, Lennox Ratcliff.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Hal and Linda Parker,of Bolton; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyliss Parker Tackitt andhusband Jess, of Bolton; three brothers, Ned Ratcliff of Jackson,James Ratcliff of Gulfport, and Melvin and his wife DeloresRatcliff of Summit; two sisters, Christine Dobbs and husbandMiller, of Bridge City, Texas, and Minnie Newell, of Seal Beach,Calif.; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the Adams United Methodist Churchbuilding fund.

William Tommy Smith

Services for William Tommy Smith of Bogue Chitto are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Nov. 2 at Community Funeral Services chapel with burial inNew Prospect Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 44, died Oct. 29, 2004, at his residence. He was bornOct. 22, 1960, in Lincoln County to T.J. Smith and Marie McCleandSmith.

He was a construction worker.

Survivors are his parents, a son T.J. Smith II, of Brookhaven; abrother, Howard J. Smith, of Brookhaven; and a grandmother, BeaulaMoncrief, of Brookhaven.
