Paws on Parade show to raise shelter funds

Dogs of all varieties will be strutting their stuff Saturday atthe Lawrence County Animal Rescue League’s Paws on Parade from 10a.m. to noon at the James E. Givens Agricultural Building on F.E.Sellers Highway.

“This is a benefit for the Lawrence County Animal Rescue League,but it’s primarily just a fun event,” said Kim Brister,spokesperson for the league. “The public is invited to come andwatch the many cute, talented stars put on an entertaining, funshow.”

Pet entries will still be taken before the event, Brister said,but people should arrive around 9:30 a.m. to register theirdogs.

Pets entered in the Paws on Parade will compete in sixcategories, including best costume, best trick, pet-ownerlook-alike, best all-around, most handsome male and prettiestfemale.

There is a small fee to register entrants and to attend theevent.

Entrants must wear their rabies tags and must have up-to-datevaccination records.
