McComb man charged in movie store robbery

Brookhaven police believe they have solved a second armedrobberies in as many days with the arrest of a McComb man.

Jesse Clark Jr., 32, of 110 Boone Road, McComb, was arrestedThursday and charged in the Nov. 9 armed robbery of Brookhaven’sMovie Gallery, Brookhaven Police Department Investigator RogerWilson said. Clark has been charged with armed robbery andconspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Wilson announced Thursday the arrest of Timothy Bryan Populis,17, of 1022 Hwy. 48, Magnolia, in the armed robbery of the Blue Skyconvenience store on Brookway Boulevard Nov. 23.

“Other arrests are imminent in both cases,” Wilson said. “Wehave warrants issued for other subjects.”

Another man wanted by police in the Movie Gallery robbery is incustody in the Pike County Jail for an unrelated armed robbery inMcComb, Wilson said. Wilson would not identify the suspect untilthe warrant had been served.

In all, Wilson said, arrests were made or warrants issued forseven suspects in connection with the two robberies.

There were no injuries in either robbery, and in both cases thesuspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department assisted in both cases,Wilson said.
