W. Lincoln Bears win two from Enterprise

Power forward Kevin King pumped in 21 points and the WestLincoln Bears roared to a 63-43 Tuesday night win over theEnterprise Yellow Jackets in Jack Case Gymnasium. In the varsitygirls game, forward Alicia Kennedy tossed in 19 points and guardLauren Smith 15 as the Lady Bears beat Enterprise 61-39 in Division7-1A action.

Enterprise and West Lincoln participate in this week’s LincolnCounty Round-Robin Tournament at Loyd Star. West Lincoln playsBogue Chitto Thursday at 4 and 5:30 p.m., and Enterprise faces LoydStar in the 7 and 8:30 nightcaps.

On the backboards, Monica Price pulled down 8 rebounds. EricaShaw contributed 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.

“We have got to shoot the ball better,” said West Lincoln coachLane Young. “Our shooting percentage is not what it needs tobe.

“(Alisha) Mason played very well for Enterprise,” said Young.”Enterprise was ready to play.”

Mason, a junior, sacked a game-high 21 points and grabbed 5rebounds for the Lady Jackets (3-2, 2-1).

“We didn’t play as well as we could have,” said Enterprise coachJill Nations. “West Lincoln is a good team.”

Kacy Rutland helped Enterprise with 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Bears (4-4, 1-0) lost leading scorer TylerSmith in the first quarter when he aggravated an ankle injury whichhad sidelined him much of last season. King picked up the slack andwas followed by Shane Lynch with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2steals. Stephen Jones chipped in 10 points and 4 rebounds. AaronShaw made 5 steals.

“Enterprise outplayed us in the first quarter,” said CoachYoung. “We need to play hard the entire game. Kevin King had a verygood game for us.”

Enterprise took an 18-12 first-quarter lead but the Bearsregrouped and outscored the Yellow Jackets 24-7 in the secondquarter to lead 36-25 at halftime.

“Our intensity was back tonight but we ran out of gas in thethird quarter,” said Enterprise boys coach Ricky Gray. “We didn’tmake our shots and West Lincoln outran us.”

The Jackets (0-4, 0-1) got 21 points and 12 rebounds from CoreyEverett. On the boards, Trey Herrington and Chris Fuller each had 5rebounds. Leighton Tate handed out 7 assists.

Junior High Results

In the junior high girls game, West Lincoln prevailed 31-27, ledby Julie Case with 9 points and Laina Laird with 6. Megan Lea andKelsey Smith each had 4 points.

Enterprise got 12 points from Eden Prather and 9 from AndreaRoberson.

In the boys game, Enterprise posted a 41-26 victory, led byTimothy McCoy’s 11 points. Tanner Delcambre added 9 points. CameronThomas and Cody Brister had 4 apiece.

West Lincoln got 4 points from Zach Jordan, Aaron Collins andJames Magee.
