Services for Edward Grady Jones of Hazlehurst are 11 a.m.Wednesday, Dec. 15 at First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst withburial in in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery. Community FuneralServices is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30-10:45a.m. at the church.

Mr. Jones, 73, died Dec. 13, 2004, at home following a lengthybattle with cancer. He was born in Carpenter on Nov. 21, 1931, toGrady Jones and Olive Porter Jones.

He lived in Copiah County most of his life and was a member ofthe First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. He was an activeoutdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons andgrandchildren. He was an Army veteran mobilized with theMississippi National Guard’s 155th Infantry Regiment for activeservice in both the Korean War and Operation Desert Shield. Heretired from the military in 1991 with 41 years of service.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Bobby June Smith Jones; his sons, Lt.Col. Vann Edward Jones and his wife, Robbin, Lt. Col. Craig SmithJones and his wife, Melissa, and Neill David Jones; his sister,Bobby Jean Jones and her husband, Russell; and his sixgrandchildren, Nathan Thomas, Brendan Edward, Marty Porter, JourdanMarie, Meagan Claire and Micah Colon.
