Services for Devan Glenn Ard of Jayess are 2 p.m. today, Dec. 28at Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess with burial in Roberts MemorialCemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Ard, 15, died Dec. 26, 2004, at Lawrence County Hospital inMonticello. He was born in Brookhaven on Oct. 24, 1989, to JimmyGlenn Ard and Deborah Ard Martin.

He was a student at Lawrence County High School. His life waschurch and sports. He was very active in the youth group at TopekaBaptist Church. He played on the baseball team for the LawrenceCounty Cougars, where he was a left-handed pitcher. He playedjunior high football, basketball, baseball and ran track. While injunior high he won numerous awards at the athletic banquet. He wasnamed Most Handsome his junior high year and was an All-StarBaseball player.
