Dear Editor,

Sometimes we take our city services for granted, but I want totake this opportunity to point out what a good job our firedepartment does.

Sunday night, my wife and I were watching TV when our fire alarmwent off. I discovered that a log in the fire place had rolled ontothe brick hearth and smoked enough to set off the alarm. No damagewas done, but within minutes, the firemen arrived all decked out intheir gear and smoke masks.

Fortunately for us, there was no need for them, but the factthat they arrived so quickly was very impressive and we greatlyappreciate their quick action.
