Brookhaven Traffic Supervisor Jimmy Furlow said motorists shouldbe aware of Canadian National work plans that will result in someclosed rail crossings beginning Monday.
The work is scheduled to start Monday at Enterprise Street, withwork there expected to take about a day. Additional work will bedone on Court, Cherokee and Chickasaw streets.
“Monticello Street will not be closed at all,” Furlow said.”Cherokee and Chickasaw will have some work done, but they will notbe closed at the same time.”
Furlow said he wanted to avoid traffic congestion as a result ofnearby crossings being closed at the same time.
The Canadian National activity involves cross ties, railreplacement and other work. Furlow was unsure how long the overallwork would take.
