BA crushes Oak Forest

AMITE, La. — Senior forward Mallory Logan pumped in 22 pointsand the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars cruised to a 52-30 Tuesdaynight win over the Oak Forest Academy Lady Yellow Jackets. Seniorguard Kelli Byrd chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds as the Ladycougars climbed to 20-1 on the season.
In the varsity boys game, the BA Cougars bashed the host YellowJackets 75-39, powered by Cole Hodges with 16 points and JeremyWinborne with 13.
The Lady Cougars (20-1, 9-0) maintained theirdominance over District 4-AA opponents last night. KristianDavidson and Emily Langley each had 7 rebounds in the triumph.
Byrd contributed 5 steals and 5 assists to the win. Logan had 4assists and and 3 steals. Lauren Smith added 3 assists.
Oak Forest was led by Chelsie Butler’s 14 points. The LadyYellow Jackets trailed trailed 21-20 at halftime but were outscored31-10 the second half.
The Cougars (19-1, 9-0) sacked 11 treys lastnight, led by Jerrod Rayborn who made 3. On the backboards, PaulDavis pulled down 7 rebounds.
Price Sessums handed out 5 assists and Hodges 4. Winborneaccounted for 6 steals and T-Boy Lynch 4 as the Cougars roared to a44-20 halftime lead.
Junior High Action
In the junior high girls game, Brookhaven whipped Oak Forest36-12, led by Kelli Brady’s 17 points and 9 rebounds. Hannah Wattsand Drew Holland Tigner both had 6 rebounds for the Lady Cougarswho improved their record to 17-1 overall and 9-0 in the division.Watts scored 7 points and Tigner 6.
Oak Forest got 4 points from Lauren Brumfield.
