Bears sweep Enterprise

Tyler Smith fired in a game-high 25 points Friday night to leadthe visiting West Lincoln Bears to a 72-50 Division 7-1A win overthe Enterprise Yellow Jackets. Smith also made four steals.

In the varsity girls game, Alicia Kennedy poured in 21 points,grabbed 11 rebounds, made two steals and had three assists indirecting the Lady Bears to a 49-41 victory over the LadyJackets.

In the boys game, West Lincoln and Enterprise were tied 18-allat the end of the first quarter. The Bears went on a 24-8 run totake a 42-26 lead in the dressing room.

“Our intensity and playing was good,” said West Lincoln coachLane Young. “Tyler and Shane (Lynch) shot the ball reallywell.”

The Bears (12-6, 7-0) got support from Shane Lynch with 18points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Kevin King fired in 13points, grabbed five rebounds and made three steals. Bradleigh Riceled off the backboards with 10 rebounds and made three steals.

“We are playing good,” said Enterprise boys coach Ricky Gray.”West Lincoln wore us out in the second and third quarter. We had agood first quarter. We are young and learning. But I feel like weare about to get around that corner to compete.”

The Jackets (1-13, 0-7) were powered by Matt Floyd’s 22 points.Corey Everett finished with 10 points, three rebounds and twoassists.

The West Lincoln girls (15-3, 7-0) got support from Monica Pricewith 10 points and six rebounds. Erica Shaw grabbed seven rebounds,made two steals and had four assists.

“Monica Price did a good job on Enterprise’s Alisha Masondefensively,” said Young. “Our team defense was consistent but wewere struggling on offense.”

The Enterprise girls (9-5, 5-2) were directed by Mason’s 17points, 10 rebounds and steal.

“We played hard and got after West Lincoln on defense,” saidEnterprise girls coach Jill Nations. “We didn’t rebound very wellas in the past.”

Junior varsity games

West Lincoln crushed Enterprise 34-16 in the girls game. CandyHerring led West Lincoln with 10 points. Kayla Moak and TalashiaFells followed with six points.

Enterprise got four points each from Kim Boyd and AmandaBurke.

The Bears knocked off the Jackets 46-29. Powering West Lincolnwith 12 points was Jamey Byrd followed by Nick Smith with 11points.

T.J. Sandifer led Enterprise with 12 points followed by MattPoisson with eight points.

West Lincoln travels to St. Aloysius and Enterprise is atPelahatchie for division games Tuesday night.
