Services for Florine Abrams, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Tuesday,Jan. 25 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in RosehillCemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Abrams, 94, died Jan. 23, 2005.

Mrs. Abrams spent her entire life in Brookhaven. She wasco-owner with her brother Clifford Abrams, of Abrams MercantileCo., where she was secretary and bookkeeper most of her adult life.Miss Abrams was a member of B’nai Shalom Synagogue. She was a veryloyal member of the Brookhaven Duplicate Bridge Club and loved herfellow members

Preceding her in death were her brother, Clifford Abrams; hersisters, Roselyn Schlesinger and Evelyn Cline.

Survivors are her sister, Vera Davis of Jackson; several niecesand nephews; her faithful friend, Myrtle Crossley; and her loyalcare giver, Lenora Rials Vidrine.

Maude Bacot

Services for Maude Bacot, of Summit, are 2 p.m. today, Jan. 24at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb with burial in Bacot Cemetery inSummit. The Rev. David Millican will officiate.

Visitation is today from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Bacot, 84, died Jan. 22, 2005, at her residence. She wasborn in Enon on Oct. 30, 1920, to John Ezra and Trevia Rayborn.

As a wife, she stood by her husbands, Bud Bacot and Bob Boyd.She loved and took care of both of them during their illnesses andfinal days. She amazed her family with her endless devotion andstrength.

She started working in retail sales in 1954 and co-ownedFelicity from 1978 to 1985 with her daughter, Patsy. The familysaid they couldn’t count the number of times when telling who theirmother was, that people would remember her working and they wouldtell them how sweet and beautiful they thought she was. It was likea broken record, “We just love your mother! We just love yourmother!” The family thanks everyone for sharing this with them.

She was a member of Pearl River United Methodist Church. She wasa devoted wife and mother. She loved her family with all of herheart.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert Lee”Bud” Bacot; her daughter, Linda Jane Bacot; her sons, Glynn Bacot;her second husband, Robert Boyd; her brother, John Rayborn Jr.; andtwo sisters, Jet Griffin and Margie Culotta.

Survivors are her daughters, Carolyn Page of San Diego, Calif.,and Patsy White and her husband, Larrye Joe White, of PassChristian; her son, Bobby Bacot Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Summit;her brothers, Jerry Rayborn Sr., and his wife, Jeanie, of Clifton,La., and Ted Rayborn, of McComb; 13 grandchildren; and 19great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Tim White, Joely White, Jerry Rayborn Jr., JeffRayborn, Joel Rayborn and Randy Bacot.

Honorary pallbearers are Everette Price, Ric Thames, JimmyDecanter and Tom Weber.

The family wanted to express their deepest appreciation to thefamily and friends who have extended love and support to theirmother throughout her life and especially during her illness.

“Our mother, Maude Bacot, is a “lady of all ladies.” She loveswithout condition her children, her 13 grandchildren, her 19great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, their children,their grandchildren, all the cousins, all the spouses, and even allthe ex-spouses.”

She was a pillar of her family. Her huge circle of family lovedher and they will truly miss the beauty of her blue-eyed smile, herwords of love, wisdom, comfort, encouragement, and concern. Sheshowed her love to all. “We know that she is the new bright andshining angle in God’s glorious Heaven. We love you so much,Mama.”

Norma Jean Brister

Services for Norma Jean Brister, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.today, Jan. 24 at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Brister, 78, died Jan. 22, 2005, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on Oct. 24, 1926, toEmmit Reeves and Gussie Prestridge Reeves.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Southway BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Almon Brister of Brookhaven; her son,Dale Brister and his wife, Karanita, of Brookhaven; her sister,Bonnie Mae Hodges and her husband, Monroe, of Bogue Chitto; hergrandchildren, Kayla Deanne Brister and Cody Delane Brister, bothof Brookhaven; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hall, 59, died Jan. 22, 2005, in Plano, Texas. He was bornin State Line, Miss., on Dec. 22, 1945, to William Allen and MaxieRevette Hall.

He served in the Airforce and was a retired veteran with 20years of service. He was a carrier for the Dallas Morning News forthe past 11 years, and a Marshall for the Golf Club of McKinney. Hewas a loving father and a very devoted Christian man who loved theLord with all his heart. He married Judy Hall in Desoto, Texas, onDec. 28, 2002.

Preceding him in death were his father; and a brother, WayneHall.

Survivors are his mother, Maxie Case of Brookhaven; his wife,Judy Hall of Allen; his children, Michael Hall of Oklahoma City,Okla., Shelley Coffey and her husband, Chris, of Blanchard, Okla.,Jason Hall of Brookhaven; his stepchildren, Jessica and Cody Hall,both of Allen; his brothers, Richard Hall, of Brookhaven, DavidHall and his wife, Carole, of Georgia, and Don Hall and his wife,Lorraine, of Brookhaven; his sisters, Denny Berch and her husband,Gary, of Crystal Springs, and Mimi Stegall and her husband, Larry,of Wesson; his aunt, Velma Preston, of Saraland, Ala.; and hisgrandchildren, Caitlin, Lacyi, Christian and Camden.

Ned Ray Phipps

Services for Ned Ray Phipps, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Tuesday,Jan. 25 at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in PleasantHill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Phipps, 71, died Jan. 23, 2005, at St. Dominic/JacksonMemorial Hospital. He was born in Maysfield, Ky., on Aug. 24, 1933,to John Walter Phipps and Mary Ellen Purkle Phipps.

He was retired after 20 years in the Army. He served in theVietnam War. He was the recipient of several medals andcommendations, including the National Defense Service Medal withoakleaf cluster, the Vietnam Service Medal with one silver star,the Army Commendation Medal with oakleaf cluster, the Bronze Starand was awarded the Good Conduct Medal six times. He was awardedthe Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, the Republicof Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Civil ActionsHonor Medal, and the European Occupational Medal (Germany). He wasalso awarded the expert marksmanship badge with the M-16 rifle. Hislast overseas assignment was in Germany.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Alfea Phipps of Brookhaven; his son,Dennis Ray Phipps and his wife, Ana, of Austin, Texas; his sister,Leona Phipps Beales; his brothers, Jimmy Phipps and Paul Phipps;his granddaughter, Kayleigh Magana; and many nephews and nieces,great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and great-greatnieces.
