WESSON — The Co-Lin Wolves sucked it up and went to work inovertime Monday night at Mullen Gymnasium and finished with a tough91-84 South Division victory over the Hinds Eagles before a largevocal crowd.

The game was tied 79-all at the end of regulation following afield goal from outstanding 6-3 Hinds guard Kiki Christmas with 7.3seconds left to force the five-minute overtime.

Christmas, a 6-3 freshman sharpshooter from Jackson, led allscorers with game-high 39 points and five rebounds before foulingout in OT with 38 seconds left.

In OT, freshman guard Joe Holliday led off with a three-pointerfrom the left paint for a quick 82-79 lead that the Wolves wouldnot relinquish in the extra period.

Co-Lin outscored Hinds 12-5 to secure the big division win.

“I am very proud of our guys in overtime,” said Co-Lin men’shead coach Dennis Sims following the win.”It would have been easyfor them to lie down. The big play was in the overtime was Hollidayhitting the three (pointer). Our guys shot free throws well andshowed a lot of poise in overtime.”

The victory improved Co-Lin’s overall record to 11-5 and aperfect 5-0 in the division. Hinds, coached by Ralph Moore, fell to4-1 in the division and 9-6 on the season.

Holliday, who finished the game with 23 points, added a freethrow followed by sophomore guard Brandon Eackles with three freethrows followed by a jumping shot to put the Wolves in command88-81 with 1:22 left in the game.

Holliday also had five rebounds and six assists.

Adding support in the Co-Lin win with 17 points was sophomoreforward Cedric Walker. Dexter Middleton pulled down eightrebounds.

In the second half, the Wolves came out with a 8-point run for aquick 11-point, 47-36 lead with 16:49 on the clock. Several timesCo-Lin led by as much as 15 points before Hinds persistence paidoff and eventually forced the tie at the end of regulation.

First-half action saw Hinds lead Co-Lin for the last time by ascore of 24-22 at the 6:25 mark. The Eagles tied the Wolvesnumerous times the remainder of the game but were never able totake the lead.

The other top scorer for Hinds was 6-9 sophomore forward KeronJackson of Memphis with 19 points and eight rebounds. BrandonWashington led off the backboards with 14 rebounds.
