Services for Dr. H. Jerry Stone, of Baton Rouge, La., are 11a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. TheRev. Gus Kinchen will officiate.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-11 a.m.at the funeral home.

Dr. Stone, 69, died Jan. 26, 2005, at his residence.

He was a retired surgeon and a native of Summit. Dr. Stonereceived his bachelor of science from the University ofMississippi. He continued his graduate studies at the University ofMississippi Medical School, graduating with honors. He served inthe Army as captain and practiced at the Brooke Army Medical CenterBurn Unit in San Antonio, Texas, for two years. He practiced fouryears as a general practitioner in Tomball, Texas, before returningfor a surgical residency at the University of Mississippi MedicalSchool. He practiced at the Baton Rouge Clinic in Baton Rouge, La.,from 1971 to 1987 as a general surgeon. He retired from surgery in1987. For 10 years, he served as medical director for Blue CrossBlue Shield Medicare. He also served as commissioner on theLouisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Board of Directors. He lovedhunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.L.Stone.

Survivors are his wife, Kay Stringer Stone; his three daughters,Juli S. Weiss, Jeni S. Bagnato and Joni J. Stone; one son, Joey S.Stone; his two brothers, Don H. Stone and Dr. D. Ken Stone; 12grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Bagnato, Kaitlyn Michelle Bagnato,Slayden Hook Bruckmeier, Payton Hayes Bruckmeier, Sophie ReedBruckmeier, Eleanor Carter Stone, Patrick Hunter Stone, AmyKatherine Weiss, Austin Lewis Weiss, Alexander Sloan Weiss,Adelaide Michelle Weiss, and Audrey Ellen Weiss.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or theAmerican Diabetes Association.
