David ‘Raiford’ Allen

Graveside services for David “Raiford” Allen, of Sontag, were 11a.m. today, Jan. 28 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist ChurchCemetery. Harrigill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allen, 45, died Jan. 26, 2005, at St. Dominic/JacksonMemorial Hospital. He was born in Brookhaven on Aug. 8, 1959, toGeorge Ralph Allen and Annalee Joyce White.

He was a paramedic at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was amember of New Hope Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his father; and his daughter, WandaLeann Allen.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Janet F. Allen, of Sontag;his daughters Katie A Toorez, of Roxie, and Samantha Casey Allen,of Sontag; and a son, Donovan R. Allen, of Sontag.

Kathleen Jones Haralson Eager

Mrs. Eager, 84, died Jan. 27, 2005, at Pleasant Hills NursingHome in Jackson. She was born in Leake County on March 21, 1920, toLacey Elijah Jones and Trudy Benton Jones.

She was a long time member of Henderson Road Baptist Church inByram. She was a former director of Grace Ministry, an outreachprogram for children. The church gave her an appreciation award onher 80th birthday for her “Untiring Service and Dedication.”

She was one of the first women rural mail carriers inMississippi (she retired after 34 years), and worked at the sametime at St. Dominic Hospital from 1955 to 1986 as a switchboardoperator and continued to do volunteer work there after retiring.She worked in a jail ministry program for about 12 years,ministering to prisoners.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, WillEager; her brother, Lacey Golden Jones; her sister, Dorothy “Dot”Bryant; and her daughters, Joan Haralson King and Brenda HaralsonKuehl.

Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and LizHaralson, of Brookhaven, and Lacey “Pud” and Dale Haralson, ofByram; her sisters, Mary Pearl Griffin, of Jackson, and RitaPeters, of Raymond; her brother, Robert S. Mr. Lofton, 82, died Jan. 27, 2005, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was a native of Lincoln County andthe son of the late Felix and Cora Smith Lofton.

Mr. Lofton served in the Army Air Corps in the China, Burma andIndia theater in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. Hewas a graduate of Mississippi State University and spent his39-year career in exploration and production for Shell Oil Company.He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Aurora MasonicLodge 193 and the American Legion. Mr. Lofton donated the land andhelped organize the Zetus Volunteer Fire Department.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister,Aronelle Lofton.

Survivors are his wife, Geraldine Lofton; his children, ChipLofton, of Roxboro, N.C., Claudia Boelte, of New Iberia, La.,Suzanne Williams, of Lufkin, Texas, and Pauline Stutes, of Athens,Ga.; his sister, Voncille Calhoun, of Plant City, Fla.; and eightgrandchildren.

Mr. Patton, 68, died Jan. 25, 2005, at Haven Hall NursingCenter. He was born in Brookhaven on Sept. 29, 1936, to EstusPatton and Rosie Johnson Patton.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, DaisyPatton Thompson; and his brothers, Willie Patton, David CharlesPatton, Clifton Thompson and Alphonso Thompson.

Survivors are his daughter, LaShawn Eley, of Houston, Texas; hisson, Slane Patton, of Magnolia; his sisters, Dora Cameron, and herhusband, James, of Brookhaven, and Patricia Breeland, and herhusband, Willard, of Brookhaven; his brothers, Edward D. Thompsonand Essie Lee Thompson, both of Brookhaven, and Wilfred OmarThompson and his wife, Katie, of Bogue Chitto; and manygrandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister andbrother-in-law, Clarice and Eral Alexander; one brother andsister-in-law, Edward and Dottie Alexander; and her stepfather,Shirley Holmes.

Survivors are her husband, W.H. “Dub” Womack, of Jayess; herdaughter, Joyce Rutland, and her husband, Jerry, of Jayess; twobrothers, Roy Holmes, of Florence, and Marvin Holmes, of Foxworth;two grandchildren and their spouses; one great-grandchild; and ahost of nephews and nieces and lots of friends.
