BA roars in AA semifinals

FRANKLINTON , La. — Brookhaven Academy’s basketball teamsrolled through the semi-final round of the District 4-AA tournamentFriday night at Bowling Green School.

Mallory Logan scored 20 points and had four steals to lead theLady Cougars to a 73-32 trouncing of the Bowling Green LadyBuccaneers and Seth Davis poured in 20 points and grabbed 8rebounds as the Cougars topped Trinity Episcopal 67-48.

“I thought we shot the ball well, we played good defense andplayed with intensity,” said Lady Cougars coach Barry Gray. “Ourrebounding wasn’t as good as I would have liked but overall weplayed well.”

Kelli Byrd added 19 points and collected 8 steals. KristianDavidson chipped in 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 4 stealsin support of Logan. The Lady Cougars improved to 29-1 with thevictory.

Victoria Steal led Bowling Green with 6 points.

Brookhaven 67, Trinity 48

Cole Hodges scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds insupport of Davis as the Cougars improved to 27-1. Jeremy Winbornecollected 7 rebounds and 4steals and Alan Gray dished out 8 assistsfor the Cougars.

“We played well in some spots but we played bad in some spots,”said Cougars coach Dale Watts. “There are still things we need toget better at. After 28 games someone would expect us to be playingwell all the way around, but we still have to work on somethings.”

Steven Ridley led Trinity with 17 points. Zach Rogel added 12points for the Saints.
