CPA firm joins nationwide association

The Mississippi CPA firm of Smith, Turner and Reeves (ST&R)has joined BDO Seidman Alliance, a nationwide association of 140independently owned local and regional accounting and consultingfirms.

“This association is a win-win for both the firm and ourclients,” said Jon C. Turner, CPA, managing partner for Smith,Turner and Reeves. “We can utilize the alliance’s many technicalresources and professionals, but remain locally owned andautonomous. Also, as more business explore opportunities bothdomestically and internationally, the BDO Seidman Alliance offersus a way to assist our clients with their expansion plans.”

ST&R is ranked as the fifth largest CPA firm in Mississippi,according to a January 24 edition of the Mississippi BusinessJournal. The company recently opened a Brookhaven office and hasother locations in Jackson, Oxford and Natchez. ST&R enteredthe Brookhaven and Natchez area market this past fall through themerger of the 30 year old Gillon & Company, Ltd. CPA firm,headed by William H. “Billy” Gillon, CPA.

Manager-in-charge of the Brookhaven office, Andy Montgomery,CPA, added the affiliation allows Smith, Turner & Reeves toaccess the resources and technical knowledge of BDO Seidman LLP andits international organization – the sixth largest CPA firm in theworld – with the overall purpose of more completely servicing itsclients.

ST&R opened for business in 1974, as did the former Gillonfirm, and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. The 55-personstaff includes 30 CPAs, 10 of whom are equity partners.
