Evelyn Carruth Brown

Graveside services for Evelyn Carruth Brown, of Bogue Chitto,are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Montgomery Cemetery in LincolnCounty.

Visitation is Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at CatchingsFuneral Home in McComb.

Mrs. Brown, 85, died Feb. 6, 2005, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in McComb on Nov.29, 1919, to Henry P. Carruth Sr. and Eugenia Hewitt Carruth.

She attended Mars Hill School. She was retired, having worked atVest Shoes and Village Flower and Gifts. She was a member of Mt.Pleasant Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, H.W.”Buck” Brown Sr.; one daughter, Myra B. Gay; and two brothers,Neville Carruth and H.P. “Pete” Carruth Jr.

Survivors are her two sons, H.W. “Buster Brown Jr., and hiswife, Marilyn, of Brookhaven, and Jackie Brown and his wife,Marilyn, of Bogue Chitto; one son-in-law, Windsor Gay, of Summit;one brother, Melroy Carruth and his wife, Lyndell, of Jackson; ninegrandchildren and their spouses, Darla and John Paulk and David andSandy Gay, all of Summit, Lori and Trey Wood, of Hattiesburg,Leanne and Darrin McCaffery, Gretchen and Dr. Lee Neal and Carlyand Josh Jordan, all of Brookhaven, Rachelle and Brad Pickett,Benji Sisco and Jamie Sisco, all of Bogue Chitto; 14great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other familyand friends.

Pallbearers will be Brad Pickett, Josh Jordan, Dr. Lee Neal,David Gay, John Paulk and Darrin McCaffery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Carruth and LarryCarruth.

Hazel N. Cowart

Services for Hazel N. Cowart, of Franklin County, are 1 p.m.Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Hartman Funeral Home Chapel in McComb withburial in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County.

Visitation is Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Cowart, 85, died Feb. 5, 2005, at Liberty Community LivingCenter in Liberty. She was born in Franklin County on May 9, 1919,to Griff and Mary Davis Nunnery.

She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Mt. GileadPrimitive Baptist Church. She was also an avid quilter.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harvey L.Cowart; her brother, Wesley Nunnery; and a sister, Agnes NunneryLofton.

Survivors are her sister, Gertrude Nunnery Spring, of Smithdale;and her brother, Henry Glenn Nunnery and his wife, Sandi, ofSmithdale; and numerous nephews and nieces that she treated as herown.

Jewel Bagget Lofton

Services for Jewel Bagget Lofton, of Smithdale, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Ramah Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-10 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home,and Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Lofton, 91, died Feb. 6, 2005, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in Kinder, La., onOct. 16, 1913, to William Cleveland Bagget and Ava FugueBagget.

She was retired after 33-years at Kellwood in McComb. She was amember of Ramah Baptist Church. She was a loving mother,grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, DeKalbLofton; her son, Dalton Lofton Sr.; her grandson, Stephan Lofton;her granddaughter, Alicia Lofton; and her great-granddaughter,Kimberly Lofton.

Survivors are her son, Wayne Lofton and his wife, Jearlene, ofSmithdale; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Lofton, of Smithdale; herbrother, Henry L. Hall, and his wife, Mildred, of Baton Route, La.;her grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Mary Lofton, ofBrookhaven, Jason and Stephanie Lofton, of Smithdale, Jenny Lofton,of Smithdale, Dalton and Tammy Lofton, of McCall Creek, Dean andRenae Lofton, of Smithdale, and Belinda L. and Bill Beamgard, ofDenver, Colo.; 15 great-grandchildren; and threegreat-great-grandchildren.
