Services for Mary Lee Burns, of Smithdale, are 2 p.m. Saturday,Feb. 12 at Smithdale Church of God of Christ with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 8 p.m. at WilliamsMortuary. Family hour will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Burns, 72, died Feb. 7, 2005, at her residence. She wasborn in Amite County on July 20, 1932, to William Washington andEthel McGhee Washington.

She was retired and a member of Smithdale Church of God InChrist.

Preceding her in death were her parents; 10 children; agrandson, William J. Patterson; and 21 siblings.

Survivors are her devoted daughter, Ida Swearington Strowder andgrandson, Ellis Ralpheal Anderson, of Smithdale, and daughter,Sharon B. Jackson, of Brookhaven; her three sons, James Washington,of New Orleans, La., L.T. Burns, and his wife, Louise, of NewOrleans, and John Burns and his wife, Gloria, of Smithdale; fivestepchildren; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; threegrandchildren she reared, Shalarie Marie Burns, of Brookhaven,Cynthia Marie Bingham, of New Orleans, and Loretta Patterson, ofNew Orleans; a devoted grandson, Roy Lee Patterson, of Greenburg,La.; three brothers, Rayfield Washington, of Smithdale, WilliamJames Washington, of Chicago, Ill., and Jewell Washington, ofAnniston, Ala.
