Virginia ‘Ginny’ Maudine Bailey

Services for Virginia “Ginny” Maudine Bailey, of Brookhaven, are11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Bailey, 56, died Feb. 14, 2005, following an extendedillness, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center inJackson. She was born in East St. Louis, Ill., on July 18, 1948, toRobert Hammons and Effie Hammons.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Ginny was a devoted mother to three children and the oldest offive siblings. She was always considered the “ruler of the roost”with her sisters and brothers. She was an “awesome” aunt to hernieces and nephews. Most of all, she was a very loving daughter toher parents.

Ginny was a 10 year employee of Wal-Mart Supercenter where sheworked in risk management and community affairs for the store. Sheloved her Wal-Mart to the very end.

Ginny was struck with a rare form of brain cancer. She fought agood fight, but eventually gave in and went to her heavenly Father.When she left this world the sun was upon her face.

Preceding her in death was her father.

Survivors are her mother; her daughter Bernadine Bailey, of LasVegas, Nev.; her two sons, Danny Bailey, of Illinois, and LanceBailey, of Las Vegas; her three sisters, Sherry Kratz, of Alabama,Nancy Carpenter, of Brookhaven, and Patricia Rushing, of Marissa,Ill.; her brother, Robert Hammons Jr., of Vicksburg; her nieces,Leslie Keller, of Illinois, Ginny Sue Welch, Peggy Kratz, both ofAlabama, Melody Hammons, of Vicksburg, and Ashley Hesker, PatriciaCarpenter, both of Brookhaven; her nephews, Ronnie Seering, ofIllinois, Jeremy Seering, of Washington, Charles Carpenter, ofBrookhaven, and B.J. Kratz, of Alabama; and a host of great niecesand nephews.

William Oson Creech

Services for William Oson Creech, of Bude, are 10 a.m. Friday,Feb. 18 at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Meadville with burial inMidway Cemetery in Meadville.

Visitation is Thursday from 5-9 p.m. and Friday from 8-10 a.m.at the funeral home.

Mr. Creech, 75, died Feb. 15, 2005, at the G.V. “Sonny”Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jackson. He was bornin Bruce on Nov. 9, 1929, to Russell Creech and Pearl SappinstonCreech.

He worked as a rough neck off shore. He was a member of the Armyand served in Korea. He was a member of Bude Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife and friend, Dorothy Creech, of Bude; hisdaughter, Sonya Thornhill, of Raymond; his son, Gary Creech, ofMankato, Minn.; his sisters, Sybel Freeman, of Natchez, and SandraLaird, of Vicksburg; his brother, Leser Creech, of Oklahoma; andfour grandchildren, Micah Creech, Amanda Thornhill, TravisThornhill and Justin Thornhill.

A.D. Rand

Graveside services for A.D. Rand, of Natchez, are 2 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 17 at Natchez City Cemetery. The Rev. Gregg Kellyand the Rev. Bart Walker will officiate.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from 1-2 p.m. atLaird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Mr. Rand, 74, died Feb. 15, 2005, at Natchez Community Hospital.He was born in Adams County on Oct. 11, 1930, to George F. andMildred Brown Rand.

He was a business partner in French and Rand ConstructionCompany with his friend Howard French. He was a member of ParkwayBaptist Church. His favorite pastime was fishing with his bestfriend and buddy Curtis Lowery. He was married for 55 years toBetty Rand of Natchez.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers,George Rand Jr. and Allen Rand.

Survivors are his wife; his two sons, Fred Rand and his wife,Melissa, of Brandon, and Ed Rand and his wife, LeJean, of Natchez;three grandchildren, Drew Rand, Josh Rand and Nici Rand; onebrother, Leslie Rand, of Kilgore, Texas; two sisters, BessieMontgomery and Liz Emfinger, both of Brookhaven; and many niecesand nephews.

Pallbearers will be Noland Wilson, Wayne Rabb, Jack Scott,Oliver Lee, Robert Marler and Bill Holland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Lowery, Charles Laird,Noland Biglane and Howard French.

Memorials may be made to hospice or a charity of yourchoice.
