Nellie Smith Applewhite Colvin

Services for Nellie Smith Applewhite Colvin, of Brookhaven, are2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at Friendship Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home andTuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Colvin, 87, died Feb. 27, 2005, at Silver Cross NursingHome. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 28, 1917, to LeonardSmith and Frances Smith Smith.

She was retired and a homemaker. She was a member of FriendshipBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands,Harold Applewhite and R.R. “Sam” Colvin; her son, C.H. ApplewhiteJr.; her daughter, Judith Ann Applewhite; and four brothers.

Survivors are her daughter, June Applewhite, of Brookhaven; hersister, Bessie Smith, of Brookhaven; her niece, Freda Ann Case; andher nephew, Ronald J. Smith.

Gerald Commodore Durr

Services for Gerald Commodore Durr, of Wesson, are 2 p.m. today,Feb. 28 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel with burial inMacedonia Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Durr, 54, died of cancer Feb. 26, 2005, at his residence. Hewas born in Brookhaven on July 17, 1950, to Pink “Buster” Durr andMarjorie Case Durr Williams.

He retired after 23 years from Jacobsen Textron. He was a memberof Macedonia Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his father; and his grandparents,Radie and Jaspar Case.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Doris Durr, of Brookhaven;his daughter, Misty Smith and her husband, Wade Smith, ofBrookhaven; his brother, Randy Durr; and his stepbrother, RobertWilliams.

Larry T. Hensley

Services for Larry T. Hensley, of Sontag, are 3 p.m. Tuesday,March 1 at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Hensley, 63, died Feb. 25, 2005, at his residence. He wasborn in Arkansas on May 22, 1941, to William Hensley and LorainneHarris Hensley.

He was a retired carrier from The DAILY LEADER. He was a memberof Shiloh Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister; and oneson-in-law.

Survivors are his wife, Hazel Hensley, of Sontag; hisstepdaughters, Susan Nickles, of McComb, and Carolyn Distler andher husband, Dale, of Branson, Mo.; his stepsons, Marvin PowellJr., of Prairieville, and Thomas Powell and his wife, Jennifer, ofWesson; his sister, Ann Free, of Eagle Rock, Mo.; his brother,Marvin Hensley, of McComb; 11 grandchildren; twogreat-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Jimmy J. Herring

Services for Jimmy J. Herring, of Vidalia, La., were 2 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 27 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lincoln Countywith burial in the church cemetery. Laird Funeral Home was incharge of arrangements. Dr. Judson W. Hurt, pastor of First BaptistChurch, Natchez, officiated the services.

Mr. Herring, 68, died Feb. 25, 2005, at Natchez Regional MedicalCenter. He was born in Lamar County on Sept. 29, 1936, to JohnWesley and Winnie Herring.

He was a retired civil engineer. He worked overseas in placesfrom Saudi Arabia to New Guinea and enjoyed traveling around theworld. He lived in Vidalia for the past 15 years, but was awayworking much of the time until he retired in 2002. He was agraduate of Mississippi State University and an ardent Bulldog fan.He enjoyed attending Bulldog football and basketball games untilthe end of 2004, when he was no longer able to attend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, JeanetteHerring Kidd.

Survivors are his daughter, Melissa Herring, of Miami, Fla.; twosisters, Jo Ann Herring Mullins and her husband, Dick, of Natchez,and Jane Herring Beach and her husband, Paul, of Jackson; herbrother, John Wesley Herring Jr., and his wife, Fran, ofStarkville; three nieces; three nephews; and sevengreat-nephews.

Pallbearers were Todd and Ross Beach, Chuck Gilbert, BruceHamberlin, Wes Herring, V.C. Nations and Mark Smith.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, of Natchez,Cancer Relay for Life.

Floyd L. Nettles

Services for Floyd L. Nettles, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, March 1 at Bude Baptist Church with burial in MidwayCemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today beginning at 5 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Nettles, 75, died Feb. 20, 2005, at his residence. He wasborn in Catahoula Parish, La., on July 4, 1929, to Harvey A.Nettles and Mary Wactor Nettles.

He was retired from forestry. He was a member of the Baptistfaith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, MargaretNettles; his sisters, Doris Rayborn and Mildred Nations; onegrandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors are his daughters, Francis Stewart, of Brookhaven,Doris Cupit and Judie Brister, both of Monticello; his sister,Katie O’Neal, of Bude; his brothers, Charles H. Nettles and JamesRayford Nettles, both of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren; and 12great-grandchildren.

Blaine Lee Reynolds

Memorial services for Blaine Lee Reynolds, of Jayess, were 4:30p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 at Monticello Baptist Church. Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Blaine, 3, died Feb. 25, 2005. He was born in Brookhaven on May16, 2001, to Raymond Reynolds and Kay Henry Reynolds.

Survivors are his parents; his sister, Megan Reynolds; hisbrother, Zachery Reynolds; his paternal grandparents, Eddie andWanzie Reynolds, of Jayess; and his maternal grandparents, Sammieand Dianne Henry, of Monticello.

Memorials may be made to the Monticello Baptist Life Center inhonor of Blaine.
