Co-Lin splits with Hinds

RAYMOND — The Co-Lin Wolves split a baseball doubleheader withthe Hinds Eagles Tuesday. Co-Lin won the opener 6-1 and Hinds cameback to take the finale 4-1 in the Cellular South BackyardBrawl.

Co-Lin, coached by Keith Case, stands 7-7 on the season andhosts LSU-Eunice Saturday for two games at Sullivan Field. Thefirst game begins at 1 p.m.

Hinds is 5-6 on the season.

The Wolves committed six errors in the doubleheader.

Co-Lin 6, Hinds 1

Ryan Belanger was the winning pitcher with two strikeouts in twoinnings. Joseph Langham worked the final five innings with onestrikeout, two hits and one run allowed.

Absorbing the loss was Chase Dorsey (0-1) with five runs allowedon seven hits, three strikeouts and three walks in four innings.Brian Barlow worked the fifth inning with one run allowed ontwohits, one strikeout and one walk.

At the plate, the Wolves were led by Patrick Williams with atriple and a double. Joshua Logan and Garrett Jones belted two hitsapiece. Singling were Xavier Qualls, Matthew Schexnayder, JodyBritt and Justin Sykes.

Dorsey and Thomas Flautt singled for Hinds.

Hinds 4, Co-Lin 1

Derek Thompson (1-2) absorbed the loss in the second game with 4strikeouts, one walk, and four runs allowed on eight hits. Barlowwas the winning pitcher (1-0) with four strikeouts, one walk andone run allowed on six hits.

Jones paced the Wolves with a triple. Britt doubled. Sykes, BenSandifer and Cody Cunningham singled.

Dorsey powered Hinds with three hits. Johnny Turner doubled.Ripping a pair of singles was Wes Burleson. Raphael Ward and ChrisPosey.
