James A. ‘J.A.’ Brumfield
Services for James A. “J.A.” Brumfield, of Ruth, are 11 a.m.Wednesday, March 9 at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb with burialin Silver Springs Cemetery in Progress.
Visitation is today from 4-6 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-10:30a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Brumfield, 90, died March 6, 2005, at Forrest GeneralHospital in Hattiesburg. He was born in Walthall County on Dec. 28,1914, to John Brumfield and Ada Fortenberry Brumfield.
He was retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportationand was involved in raising cattle.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, BaxterBrumfield, Selwin Brumfield and Wendell Brumfield; and one sister,Fannie Lexie.
Survivors are his wife, Rubye Nell Boutwell Brumfield, of Ruth;one son, Jimmie Brumfield, of Hurst, Texas; one brother, JohnBrumfield, of McComb; two sisters, Claudia Fortenberry, of Atlanta,and Olgee Pittman, of New Orleans; three grandchildren; andnumerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity or church of yourchoice.
Annie Pearl Minton Roberts
Services for Annie Pearl Minton Roberts, of Gulfport, are 3 p.m.Wednesday, March 9 at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport with burialin Gulf Pines Cemetery in Long Beach.
Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 3 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Roberts, 66, died March 6, 2005, in Gulfport.
She was a native of Brookhaven and a long time resident of thecoast. She was a member of Gulf Gardens Baptist Church and formerlyworked at K-Mart in Long Beach. Her main hobby was doting on hergrandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her father, Ed Fauver and a brother,Danny Fauver.
Survivors are her daughters, Darlene Minton, of Gulfport, AliciaMinton Shirley, of Katy, Texas, and Katrina Minton King, of PassChristian; her mother, Maude Butler Fauver, of Brookhaven; herbrothers, Ed Fauver Jr., of Brookhaven and Don Fauver, ofSmithdale; her sister, Betty Sue Young, of Wilmer, Ala; and hersister-in-law, Rhonda Fauver; and two grandchildren.

Services for Thomas L. Smith Jr., of Waukegan, Ill., formerly ofBrookhaven, were Saturday, Feb. 26 at Bradshaw and Range FuneralHome in Waukegan, with burial in North Shore Garden of MemoriesCemetery in North Chicago.
Mr. Smith, 80, died Feb. 22, 2005, in Waukegan. He was born inBrookhaven on Nov. 18, 1924, the second of nine children, to ThomasL. and Irene Smith.
Mr. Smith united with St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age.After graduating from Alexander High School, he enlisted in theNavy, where he served from 1942 until 1945. In 1945 he marriedChristine Butler. He later moved to Waukegan, where he worked as anursing aid at the North Chicago Veterans Affairs Medical Center.In 1959, he was employed by the United States Postal Service, wherehe worked until retirement.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Alice N.Smith and Clara E. Jordan; a brother, Francis C. Smith; and hisson, Thomas L. “Pluto” Smith III.
Survivors are his former wife, Christine Weathersby, ofBrookhaven; two brothers, Enoch Smith and Alfred Smith; threesisters, Christine Kelly, Catherine Summers and Polly Collins;three grandchildren, Dedric Smith and Tiawanna Butts, both ofBrookhaven, and Alicia Sissac, of Signal Hill, Calif.; ninegreat-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins andfriends.
