Services for Earnest Brown, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. Monday, March14 at Kynett United Methodist Church with burial in Ebenezer ChurchCemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. at Williams Mortuaryand Monday from 2-3 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Brown, 86, died March 8, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 1, 1919, to JohnnyBrown and Lilly Sutton Brown.

He was the retired owner of Brown’s Cafe, which he operated forapproximately 55 years. He was a member of Kynett United MethodistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his five sisters, CoraHarris, Sally Holloway, Maggie Lyons, Vergie Mae Banks and FrankieMack Jones; and his three brothers, William Brown, John Brown andWarren Brown.

Survivors are his son, Edward L. “Mut” Brown, of Brookhaven; andhis grandchildren, LaMonte’ Brown and his wife, Nikki, of Jackson,and Ouida Brown, of Birmingham, Ala.; and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.

Peggy J. Galey

Services for Peggy J. Galey, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. Saturday,March 12 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with burial inthe church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Galey, 71, died of cancer, March 10, 2005, at her residence.She was born in Evansville, Ind., on Oct. 14, 1933, to BernicePatterson and Irene Reuter Patterson.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove UnitedMethodist Church where she was a member of the Church CommunityCrafters.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and one sister.

Survivors are her daughter, Sandra Hebert, of Brookhaven; her sons,Clifford Galey, of Brookhaven, Kenneth Galey, of Slidell, La., RickGaley and La Comb, La., and Robert Galey, of Brookhaven; 12grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces andnephews.

Joseph Luke Lea

Services for Joseph Luke Lea, of Baytown, Texas, were 11:30 a.m.today, March 11 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial inFriendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lea, 94, died March 6, 2005, at Renaissance Hospital in Groves,Texas. He was born in Brookhaven on May 24, 1910, to Joseph DanielLea and Mollie Kimble Lea.

He retired in 1972 from Dupont in Orange, Texas. His hobbies weregardening and shop work.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ina Marie CaseLea; eight sisters, M.L. Vaughan, of Port Arthur, Texas, Bonnie MaeKing, Pinkie Applewhite, Mildred Fender, Mary Lue Ratcliff, BeulahMae Weeks, all of Brookhaven, Elsie Sandifer, of Port Arthur, andGrace Chapman, of Lucien; and two brothers, George Lea, ofBrookhaven, and Howard Lea, of Jackson.

Survivors are his daughter, Shirley Huff and her husband, L.G.Huff, of Baytown; three grandchildren, Connie Ellis and herhusband, Jim, of Huffman, Texas, Larry Huff and his wife, Gladys,of Liberty, Texas, and Terry Huff and his wife, Lisa, of Baytown;four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hilton Ray Sumrall

Services for Hilton Ray Sumrall, of Monticello, are 10 a.m.Saturday, March 12 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial inBethel Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Sumrall, 74, died March 9, 2005, at his residence. He was bornin Mississippi on Feb. 25, 1931, to Seth Sumrall and Cavie SmithSumrall.

He was a sales clerk and farmer. He was a member of Bethel BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his father; and his sister, LindaMahaffey.

Survivors are his mother; his sister, Sybil Alexander, of BatonRouge, La.; and his brothers, Gerald Sumrall, of Monticello, DoyleSumrall, of Sugarland, Texas, and Donnie Sumrall, ofPascagoula.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Services for Versie L. Thompson, of Bogue Chitto, are noonSaturday, March 12 at First Community Church in Dubbs with burialin Walker Cemetery in Dubbs. Calvary Memorial Funeral Home inMemphis is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thompson, 92, died March 6, 2005, at her residence.

She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto. She wasmarried to J.W. Thompson.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John Walker and CelestineWalker; her sister, Rosie; her brother, Eugene; her sons, WalterLouis Thompson and Lawrence Thompson; and her son-in-law, VirgelButler Sr.

Survivors are her daughters, Marva Franklin and Gussie Winston,both of Chicago, Florida Butler, of Bogue Chitto, Lelia Anderson,of Chicago, and Rose Mary Russell, of Bogue Chitto; her sons, JamesThompson, Augusta Thompson, Edward Thompson, and Alford Thompson,all of Memphis, Tenn.; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
