Memorial services for Ella May Mason, of Siloam Springs, Ark.,are 2 p.m. today, March 28 at First United Methodist Church inSiloam Springs. Family will be present from 1-2 p.m. A privateburial will be held in Brookhaven. Wasson Funeral Home in SiloamSprings is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Mason, 82, died March 24, 2005, in Siloam Springs from astroke she suffered on new Year’s Eve. She was born in Brookhavenon Oct. 22, 1922, to Pinkney Martin Mason and Fannye ThompsonMason.

Miss Mason earned both a bachelor and master of fine arts fromthe Art Institute of Chicago. She taught at Belhaven College,Jackson, the University of Richmond, Richmond, Va., beforeaccepting a professorship at John Brown University in SiloamSprings in 1959. She retired from there in 1973 and where shecontinued to make her home.

She was an accomplished artist and continued painting until herstroke brought her career to an end. She was actively engaged inthe conception of the Ozarks Arts Alliance Show and assisted withthe Sager Creek Arts Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her older sister,Myrtile Wilson Mason.

Survivors are her cousins Peter Miazza, Hubert Miazza, WinstonMason and Jimmy Hoefer, all of Jackson.
