Georgia Lee Covington Kyzar

Services for Georgia Lee Covington Kyzar of Bude are 10 a.m.,Monday, April 4, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. John Smith will officate theservice.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kyzar, 98, died April 2, 2005, at Southwest RegionalMedical Center in McComb. She was born in Lawrence County on Nov.9, 1906, to William Bennett Covington and Parlee SmithCovington.

She was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Agricultural High School.She also attended Whitworth College. She was an accomplishedmusician and recieved a degree in voice and piano. She formerlylived in Lexington, Drew, Greenwood, and Laurens, S.C. The wife ofa Baptist minister, Mrs. Kyzar was active in the Baptist Church andfor many years worked with young people. She took an active part inthe music ministry of all her husband’s churches, frequentlyserving as organist, pianist and choir director. She traveled toEurope, South America, and the Middle East when her husband servedon the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.Following her husband’s retirement the couple moved to Bude afterliving in Greenwood for 18 years. She attended Siloam BaptistChurch, where her husband served as interim pastor. She enjoyedflowers and belonged to a garden club wherever she lived. She hadbeen a resident of Camellia Estates in McComb since 2000.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jewell H.Kyzar; three sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors are her niece, Marian N. Kelso of San Marcos, Texas;her nephew, William L. Costley Jr. of El Dorado, Ark.; one greatniece; three great nephews; five great-great nieces; threegreat-great nephews; a beloved sister-in-law, Pearl Givins; herniece-in-law, Joyce Moore; and two nephews-in-law, the Revs JohnSmith and Reece Kyzar.
