Lady Viks win Brookhaven tourney

Warren Central captured the championship trophy of the Ole BrookFast-Pitch Softball Tournament Saturday afternoon, winning 3games.
The Lady Vikings defeated Loyd Star 3-2 in 6 innings, andpitched shutouts against Franklin County 11-0 and Brookhaven2-0.
Ole Brook, coached by Lisa Covington, picked up a 6-0 victoryover Franklin County; and fell to Loyd Star 2-0 in the final gameof the day.
In other tournament action, Loyd Star beat Franklin Co. 3-0.
Brookhaven (11-9) host McComb Monday and Terry Tuesday, toconclude their season.

Ole Brook junior pitcher Ashley Sykes picked up the win. Sheallowed no runs on 2 hits; issuing 1 base on balls and fanning 8Lady Bulldog batters.
Leading the Lady Panther at the plater was Allyson Wallace; whosingled , doubled, stole 2 bases and scored a run. Kayla Princedoubled twice. Taylor Crane and Kelly Vinson each singled.
Kristin Olgesby suffered the loss for Franklin Co, allowing 6runs (5 earned) on 6 hits; walking 2 and striking out 1. JenniferThornton and Alex Higginbotham each had singles.

Sykes suffered the loss for the Lady Panthers. The Lady Vikingsallowed Ole Brook 1 hit, a single by Vinson.
Loyd Star 2, Brookhaven 0
Sykes finished the day at 1-2, despite the 1-hitter in the finalgame. Lauren Smith singled.
Caroline Burks picked up the win for the Lady Hornets. AmberRestivo doubled and scored. Abby DeLaughter scored.
