Everett’s homer lifts Enterprise over West Lincoln in 9 innings

Corey Everett smashed a game-winning home run in the bottom ofthe ninth inning to give the host Enterprise Yellow Jackets an11-10 Division 7-1A victory over the West Lincoln Bears. The gamewas deadlocked 10-all in the ninth inning.

“Both teams played hard and battled,” said Enterprise coach KrisSmith. “It just came down to who bats last. I’m proud my of myguys. I wish West Lincoln good luck on Thursday.”

Enterprise improved to 5-4 in the division and 9-8 on theseason. West Lincoln fell to 6-10 overall and 3-5 in divisionplay.

“This game hurts me for the players,” said West Lincoln coachKeith Cline. “We did not get the bounces. Enterprise never gave up.They played hard and made the plays. This was a well-played gamefor both sides.”

West Lincoln led 3-0 for the first two innings. Enterprise tiedthe game in the bottom of the fourth. The Bears pushed their leadto 9-7 at the end of the fifth. The Jackets scored two runs in thebottom of the seventh to tie it 9-all. In the eighth, each teamscored a run apiece to push the tie to 10-10.

Adding support to the Enterprise win with a double and a singleapiece were Johnathon Beeson and Blake Mckee. Ky Mathis doubled.Everett added a single. Alex Powell hit safely.

West Lincoln got a pair of doubles from Mason Douglas. Triplingand singling was Shane Lynch. James Magee doubled and singled.Doubling were Josh Rushing, Clark Jones and Zack Williams.

Matt Floyd was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and nowalks. Rushing was the losing hurler in relief of starter Douglas.Douglas struck out eight and walked four in the first five inningsfollowed by Rushing with three strikeouts and a walk.

Junior varsity

Enterprise knocked off West Lincoln 14-6 in the JV game. ClayRussell powered the Jackets with a home run and a double. TaylorHerrington doubled twice. Elliot Mckee tripled. Matt Price, KyBurke, Trent Herrington, Tanner Delcambre and Travis Leggettsingled.

West Lincoln hosts Bogue Chitto Thursday for two games, the JVbegins at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at 7.

On Friday, Enterprise entertains St. Aloysius for two games.
