Bobcats dump Bears

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats handed the host West Lincoln Bears akey 13-7 Division 7-1A loss Thursday night in division baseballaction. The Bobcats clinched the No. 4 spot in their division andfaces No. 1 Stringer (Division 8) in next week’s playoffs.

Bogue Chitto improved to 4-6 in the division and 5-10 on theseason. West Lincoln fell to 3-6 in division action and 6-11overall.

“We hit the ball well,” said Bogue Chitto coach Adam Moak. “Weplayed good defense. My guys came together when they needed to cometogether. Corey Washington pitched a good game and Steven Snow camein and shut them down. This is our first trip to the playoff aftera 3-year drought.”

Corey Washington was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and 4walks. Steven Snow fanned a batter and walked one in relief.

Casey Britt absorbed the loss with 5 runs allowed, no strikeoutsand a walk. Also seeing action were Shane Lynch with 4 strikeoutsand 4 walks followed by Josh Rushing with 2 strikeouts and 4walks.

“We came out flat at first,” said West Lincoln coach KeithCline. “We scrapped and clawed and fought ourselves back in thegame. I’m extremely proud of the way my guys played and didn’t quitin this game.”

Powering the Bobcats at the plate were Seth Avants and LangePorter with a double and a single apiece. Doubling was Joseph Hart.Daniel Howard, Davis Moak, Scotty Brown and Snow singled.

Drilling a 3-run home run in the fourth inning for West Lincolnwas Clark Jones. Mason Douglas doubled twice. Zach Williams,Rushing and Britt collected two singles apiece.

Junior varsity

West Lincoln clipped Bogue Chitto 4-2 in JV action. Wit May wasthe winning pitcher with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks. Scotty Browntook the loss with 7 strikeouts and 5 walks.

Aaron Shaw, Trey Moyer and Nathaniel Pruski singled for theBears.

Avants paced Bogue Chitto with a double. David Moak and TylerDuffy singled.
