Services for Velma G. Smith, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, May 7 at Big Springs Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mrs. Smith, 93, died May 4, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Claiborne County on Sept. 24, 1911, toRobert Lee Greer and Eliza Ann Ford Greer.

She was a homemaker. She was a long-time member of Big SpringsBaptist Church, she was also its oldest member.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Alton H.Smith; her son, Donald Ray Smith; two brothers; and sevensisters.

Survivors are her daughter, Joyce Rutledge and her husband,Jack, of Brookhaven; her daughter-in-law, Fay B. Smith, ofBrookhaven; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and threegreat-great-grandchildren.
