Lt. Col. David Clinton Currie

Funeral services with full military honors for Lt. Col. DavidClinton Currie (retired), of New Orleans, were 1 p.m. Friday, May13 at Biloxi National Cemetery. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home wasin charge of arrangements.

Lt. Col. Currie, 85, died May 8, 2005, at Woldenberg VillageNursing Home in New Orleans. He was a native of Union Church.

He was a graduate of Jefferson County Agriculture High School,Copiah Lincoln Junior College and the University of SouthernMississippi. He retired from the Air Force after 23 years. He wasdirector of safety at Keesler Air Force Base for 12 years. He was aresident of Gulfport for 45 years and a recent resident of NewOrleans.

Lt. Col. Currie received two Distinguished Flying Medals, AsiaPacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War IIVictory Medal, American Occupational Medal and the National DefenseService Medal from the military. He was a member of First BaptistChurch in Gulfport.

Survivors are his daughter, Jill C. Bohn, of New Orleans; hisfour sons, David Currie, of Columbus, Randall Currie, ofFredericksburg, Va., Gregory Currie, of Fayette, Ala., and GarthCurrie, of New Orleans; his brother, Donald Currie, of Brookhaven;and seven grandchildren.

F.K. Horton Jr.

Services for F.K. Horton Jr., of Wesson, were 11 a.m. today, May18 at Sylvarena Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Horton, 74, died May 14, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in New Orleans on Feb. 20, 1931, to Francis K.Horton Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth McIver.

He was a retired business manager. He was a veteran of theKorean War and served in the Navy. He was a member of the AmericanLegion. He was also a member of Sylvarena Baptist Church, where hewas a deacon for 40 years and taught the men’s Sunday schoolclass.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Lucile Watson Horton, of Wesson; hisdaughters, Letha H. Presley, of Wesson, and Alison H. Fryant andher husband, David, of Brandon; his son, Francis K. Horton III andhis wife, Angie, of Chaing Mae, Thailand; his brother, JamesHorton, of Arlington, Texas; his grandchildren, Emily Presley,Mattie Presley, Kennedy Horton, Katie Horton, Kelsey Horton, KonnerHorton, Jorja Montgomery and Anna Montgomery; and onegreat-grandchild, James Taylor Miller.
