Bude races’ outcomes still unclear

Tuesday’s city elections in Bude and Meadville resulted indecisive results for one city but only one clear decision for theother.
In Meadville, the only race to be determined was for the city’sfive at-large alderman posts. Longtime alderman W.P. “Sonny” Dickeyran unopposed in the mayoral race.
Re-elected as aldermen were Vanessa Walker with 149 votes, BartJones with 142 votes, and Charles Calcote with 108 votes.
Newly elected as aldermen were Bob Kelly with 144 votes andDavid Scarbrough with 138 votes. Incumbent Jack Hollingsworth, whoreceived 100 votes, was not re-elected, City Clerk Debra Emfingersaid.
“Everything went like clockwork,” said Emfinger, who alsoindicated that there were no absentee or affidavit votes tocount.
Bude City Clerk Debra Wactor said her city’s elections werestill undecided this morning. Affidavit and absentee ballots werebeing counted early today to determine the winners in the mayor’srace and in the alderman at-large race, she said.
“We should have results by noon,” Wactor said.
Alderwoman Shanna H. Jackson said her Ward Four race was theonly one in Meadville decided Tuesday night. Jackson said she hadenough votes for a win because even with the few affidavit votescast in her ward, her opponent Linda Gail Green could not win, shesaid.
Jackson said the incumbent Mayor Arthur Mac Littleton andincumbent Alderman at-large Norma Jean Kelly were both behind whenvoting concluded last night but that results could change when allof the affidavit votes are counted.
Running against Littleton in the mayor’s race was Earl Case.
In the alderman at-large contest was Kelly, Grady Huff andMargie McNair.
Lee J. Romero III will represent Meadville in Ward One afterincumbent Alderman Michael Goss chose not to seek re-election.
Ward Two Alderman Anthony Gibbs was re-elected withoutopposition.
