Bank of Brookhaven wins AAA City Championship

The Bank of Brookhaven held off Union Planters for a 22-18 winand captured the AAA City Championship Tuesday night.

In the semifinals, Bank of Brookhaven clipped Nationwide 13-9 tomeet Union Planters in the title game.

In the championship game, Preston Rawls fanned 4 batters andwalked 7 for the win as Cody Thornhill came in to get the save.Matthew Evans was the losing hurler with 3 strikeouts and 3walks.

The game was tied 5-all after 2 innings. Union Planters went up7-6 in the third inning. Bank of Brookhaven outscored UnionPlanters 10-4 in the third inning for a 16-11 lead.

In the fifth, Union Planters outscored Bank of Brookhaven 7-5,cutting the deficit to 21-18. Bank of Brookhaven added one run inthe top of the sixth for a 4-run lead and eventual win.

Ryan Thibodeaux smashed a triple and 2 singles for Bank ofBrookhaven. Tripling and singling for 5 RBIs was Tanner Parvin.Grant Smith twice for 3 RBIs followed by Thornhill and Clay Crozierwith 2 singles apiece. Doubling was Brady Wilson. Tyler Malone waswalked 3 times. Sam Stevens scored an RBI on a fielder’schoice.

Union Planters got a double and 3 singles from John Gray.Smashing 2 triples was Shiloh Martin. Evans ripped a triple and apair of singles. Tripling and doubling was Keith Wells. Luke Normansingled.

Leading Bank of Brookhaven with a pair of singles was Crozier.Parvin singled for score 3 runs. Smith hit an RBI single. Alsosingling was Wilson. Smith posted the victory with 4 strikeouts and5 walks.

Ben Mathis directed Nationwide with a double and a single for3RBI. Austin Fuller drilled a triple for an RBI. Andy Morrisdoubled twice. Braxton Foster hit safely. Morris absorbed the losswith 2 strikeouts and 7 walks.
