Man arrested in deputies’ assault

A Lincoln County man remained in jail today after an earlySaturday morning altercation in which three Lincoln Countysheriff’s deputies were assaulted.
According to Sheriff Wiley Calcote, Deputies Stewart Thornton,Robbie Douglas and Mark Chambers, were called to the residence ofCammie Porter, 1149 Old Brook Road, to investigate a report ofdomestic violence.
Calcote said the three officers confronted Porter, who thenallegedly struck Thornton. A scuffle ensued, and Douglas andChambers also were allegedly attacked before Porter was subdued,the sheriff said.
Public reports indicated the Brookhaven Police Department wascalled to assist in apprehending Porter.
Porter is charged with domestic violence and three counts ofaggravated assault on a police officer.
