Wesson Warriors pinch Pearl

WESSON — The Wesson Warriors edged the Pearl Sluggers 3-2 in 8innings Wednesday night in a Cotton State League wooden bat game.Garrett Jones walked, stole second base, went to third on asacrifice fly from Robert Young and scored the winning run on asqueeze bunt by Cole Hodges.
Young, a Belhaven College product, was the winning pitcher in 2innings of relief. He walked 3 batters and fanned 3, allowing nohits or runs on Sullivan Field.
Southpaw Brett Hartfield of Purvis started the game on the moundand threw 4 scoreless innings, striking out 1 and walking none. Heallowed 5 hits.
Hartfield was followed by James Landry who hurled two-thirds ofan inning. Landry gave up 2 runs and walked 3 batters.
Ryan Hoben of Potts Camp replaced Landry. In 1.1 frames, Hobengave up 1 hit and no runs.
At the plate, Wesson finished with 4 hits. Hoben singled twice.Ryan Williams and Kory Moore singled.
Heath Wilson of Mississippi College was the losing pitcher. TheSluggers finished with 6 singles.
Wesson plays at Pearl today, starting at 3 p.m. on Pearl HighSchool’s diamond. The Warriors are at William Carey College inHattiesburg Saturday to play the Hub City Wheels in a 1 p.m.doubleheader.
