Speaking of goals, one long-sought project is coming to fruitionunder a new name.

Officials are completing the final paperwork for acquisition ofland for the community’s new business park, located justoutside the current city limits west of the interstate. Cityofficials are considering annexation of the park property.

The “business park” moniker is now the preferred name for whathas so far been called the industrial park.

Community leaders said the new name offers a better connotationthan industrial park, which brings to mind older buildings and amore staid atmosphere.

A business park label denotes the potential for more vibrantsurroundings and the possibility to attract retail as well asindustrial prospects. With some retail development west of theinterstate already open and more planned, the business park labelis fitting for Brookhaven and Lincoln County’s new endeavor.

Regardless of what the park is called, though, city, county andchamber leaders hope it spells economic development success for thecommunity.
