Services for Betty Shoemake, of Monticello, are 11 a.m.,Tuesday, July 19 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial inJayess Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shoemake, 61, died July 16, 2005, at St. Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1944, to Ford EarlAlexander and Clarice Alexander.

She was a graduate of Kosciusko High School. She went tocosmetology school. She moved to Jackson, where she worked as abeautician at the Candle Stick Beauty Circle. She lived inMonticello for the past 25 years, and was a homemaker. She was amember of Jayess Baptist Church.

Mrs. Shoemake was a former president of the Lawrence County HighSchool Booster Club. She also ran the Pee Wee Football League inLawrence County for many years. Mrs. Shoemake was known for herinvolvement with the children in the Little League program and forthe times she fed many of the children after the ball games. Shewas a second mom to many.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and an infantdaughter.

Survivors are her husband, John Shoemake; her sons, John LynnShoemake Jr., of Fort Brag, N.C.; Alexander Lewis Shoemake, ofMonticello; her brother, Jimmy Alexander, of Jayess; her sister,Dianne Bourne, of Oakvale; her nieces, Gretchen, Kemily, Danny, Deeand Dody; and her nephews, Gregg, Eric and Jacob.
