Services for Roxie Gearing Smith, of Brookhaven, are 4 p.m.Saturday, July 23, at St. James M.B. Church with burial inHillcrest Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at WilliamsMortuary and Saturday from 3-4 p.m. at the church.
Ms. Smith, 71, died July 19, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born on April 16, 1934, to Isaac Gearing and AliceArnold.
She was a retired bus driver for the Brookhaven Public Schoolswhere she had worked for 17 years. She was a 1953 graduate ofAlexander High School and attended Jackson State University. Shewas a member of St. James M.B. Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Willie E.”Bubba” Smith; her daughter, Felicia Cook; and her brothers,Sylvester “Red” Robinson, Tom “June Bug” Gearing and IkeGearing.
Survivors are her six daughters, Virginia Armstrong, ofBrookhaven, Shelia Truvillion, of Lansing, Mich., Jennifer Watsonand her husband, Samuel, of Spring, Texas, Samanthia Smith, ofJackson, Kathy Sheriff and her husband, Daniell III, of Jackson,and Stephanie Bobbitt and her husband, Steven, of Jackson; her twosisters, Aline McCarthy, of Lansing, and Tessie Brown, of Natchez;nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a devoted friend ofthe family, Arlustra “Pap” Henderson; and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.
