Rufus Lee Humphrey

Services for Rufus Lee Humphrey, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Sunday, July 24 at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church on Jackson Liberty Roadwith burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from noon until 5 p.m., with a wake from6-7 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Brookhaven. Visitationand a slide show will be from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at thechurch.

Mr. Humphrey, 87, died July 19, 2005, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on April 24, 1918, to JohnPriscilla Culver Humphrey.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three wives, MaeFrances Gibson Humphrey, Margaret Paxton Humphrey and Ada BeardHumphrey; two brothers, Solomon Humphrey and Luther Humphrey; andone sister, Sallie Robinson.

Survivors are his two daughters, Mary Ruth Hospkins and HelenLofton; two sons, Ladell Henderson and Michael Tyler; one uncle,Willie Humphrey; one sister-in-law, Cloratee Humphrey; 13grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.

Margaret Jones

A memorial service for Margaret Jones, of Jackson, are 12:30p.m. Saturday, July 23 at Galloway Memorial United MethodistChurch. The Family will hold a private graveside serve in LakewoodMemorial Park. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Jones, 97, died July 21, 2005, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center.

She was a native of Franklin, Tenn., before she came to Jacksonin 1932 following her marriage to C. Edmonson Jones, formervice-president of Mississippi Power & Light Company, whopreceded her in death in 1983. Her son, Dr. Ed Jones, died in1999.

Mrs. Jones received a bachelor of science degree from GeorgePeabody College in Nashville. She taught school in Brookhaven priorto her marriage.

She was a dedicated and active member of Galloway MemorialMethodist Church. In 1963, she was the first woman elected to theAdministrative Board. At the time of her death she was an honorarymember of the board. Mrs. Jones served twice as president for 10years and a charter member and past president of the AltarGuild.

She was president of the YWCA in the 1950s during constructionof its building at the corner of North State and Yazoo streets(which is now occupied by the Old Capitol Inn) and a member of itsboard for 12 years. Mrs. Jones was a member and past president ofthe Monday Luncheon Club.

Survivors are her three grandchildren, Charlie Jones, ofJackson, Yancey Jones, of New Orleans, and Lindsey Ziegler, ofEureka, Calif.; three great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, SamJones, of Brookhaven; two nieces, Molly Lea, of Clearwater, Fla.,and Carol Porter, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a nephew, P.Z. Jones Jr.,of Jackson and Carthage.

Memorials may be made to Galloway Memorial Methodist ChurchAltar Guild or to a favorite charity.

Etta Dickerson McCullough

Services for Etta Dickerson McCullough, of the Pricedalecommunity, are 2 p.m. today, July 22 at Calvary Baptist Church inPricedale with burial in the church cemetery. Catchings FuneralHome in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at at thechurch.

Mrs. McCullough, 93, died July 20, 2005, at Beverly Health Care.She was born in Lawrence County on March 29, 1912, to John Tullisand Idella Rushing Tullis.

She was the retired owner and operator of Carter’s CreekGrocery. She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church inRuth. She was a very active member in the community and her churchand was very active in the Republican party where she served inmany capacities including poll supervisor.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Thomas T.”Pete” Dickerson; one son, William Lloyd Dickerson; one grandson,Scott Alan Dickerson; five sisters, Patty Bullock, Mattie Renfroe,Betty Miller, Hattie Reid and Henri Reid; and one son-in-law, JesseN. Greer Jr.

Survivors are her four sons, Jimmy Dickerson, of Pricedale, TimDickerson, of McComb, Ted Dickerson, of Colorado Springs, Colo.,and Steve Dickerson, of Houston, Texas; two daughters, BobbyeDickerson Greer, of Brandon, and Maria Greer, of Brookhaven; twobrothers, John Tullis, of Monticello, and Les Thornhill, of McComb;three sisters, Dorothy Yates and Sue Lambert, both of Monticello,and Glenda Frazier, of Natchez; 14 grandchildren; 14great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerousnieces and nephews.

Robert Lee Posey

Services for Robert Lee Posey, of McCall Creek, are 1 p.m.Saturday, July 23 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Wright’s Chapel Church cemetery in McCall Creek.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Posey, 53, died July 21, 2005, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was born in Brookhaven on April 5,1952, to Neal R. Posey and Josie Smith Posey.

After retiring from Shell Oil Company, he was self-employed withPosey Logging. He was a member of Bude Lodge No. 566.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother-in-law,Mark Cade Slaton.

Survivors are his wife, Patsy Young Posey, of McCall Creek; ason, Curtis Lee Posey, of McCall Creek; a daughter and son-in-law,T.J. and John Stacy Grice, of McCall Creek; his mother-in-law andfather-in-law, Geraldine Kyzar Young and Ford Young, of Summit; twosisters, Judy Bynum, of McCall Creek, and Laneal Posey, ofRidgeland; his sister-in-law, Lynne Slaton, of Summit; hisbrother-in-law, James Young, of Jackson; his brother andsister-in-law, Glen and Ann Young, of Brookhaven; hisgranddaughter, Emma Leigh Grice; and a stepgrandson, John HunterGrice; a very special sister of our hearts, Donna Blankley; andmany nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers are Curtis Posey, Brandon Slaton, Kenneth Golman,Don Haralson, Sam Moore and Ronnie Smith. Masonic burial with OscarClanton, Gene Spence and Gerald Dunn.
