Services for Carl Henry Rogers, of Brandon, were 11 a.m. today,Aug. 12 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial inEastern Cemetery.

Mr. Rogers, 78, died of heart failure at his home on Aug. 9,2005.

He owned and operated furniture and appliance businesses for 50years. He was a boatswains mate, petty officer 3rd Class, in theNavy and served in the South Pacific for three years during WorldWar II. He was a former steward of the First Methodist Church inLouisville, and was the first president of the Winston CountyChambers of Commerce. He also served as president of the LouisvilleJaycees. He earned his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flyingfor many years. Mr. Rogers was a true craftsman, designing andbuilding all types of furniture. He loved living on his beloved”Creek Bank” on Lake Harbor in Rankin County and taking his familyand friends out on boating and fishing trips. He was an avid readerand was probably the Reservoir Library’s most frequent patron. Heworked hard and played hard and often said he had a wonderful life.His greatest pride and joy was his family.

Preceding him in death were his baby daughter, Jeannie Lynn; andhis parents; Carl C. and Thelma Rogers, of Forest.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Mary; his children, Bryantand Bonnie Rogers, of Sante Fe, N.M., Johnny and Alice Rogers, ofForest, Glen Rogers, of Mazatlan, Mexico, and Susan and RandyPickett, of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, Derek Rogers and hiswife, Mary Carroll, of Starkville, Ryan Rogers, of Jackson,Kimberly, Sean and Scott Pickett, of Brookhaven, Kristina Rogersand Rochelle Thompson, of Sante Fe, Malena Thompson, of Scottsdale,Ariz., and Mitch Miles, of Panama City, Fla.; and hisgreat-grandchildren, Denny and Hal Sullivan, of Starkville.

Pallbearers were grandchildren, Derek Rogers, Ryan Rogers, SeanPickett, Scott Pickett, Mitch Miles and nephew, Mike McCrory.
