Fire damages Monticello home

A Wednesday night house fire resulted in major damage to a96-year-old Monticello woman’s home.
Assistant Fire Chief Robert Patterson said the Monticello FireDepartment responded at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday to 5859 Highway 587,the home of Doll Johnson.
The fire started in the utility room of the home, Pattersonsaid. Johnson and a person staying with her were able to exitunharmed, he said. An estimated 60 percent of the contents of thehome were saved, the chief said.
