Services for George Harold Stokes, of Gretna, La., are 1 p.m.Friday, Sept. 9 at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb with burial inWoodlawn Cemetery in Summit. The Rev. Dean Derr will officiateservices.
Visitation begins Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Stokes, 85, died Sept. 2, 2005, at St. Anne Hospital inRaceland, La. He was born in Bogalusa, La., on June 7, 1920, toGeorge C. Stokes and Edna May Wooley Stokes.
He was an engineer for more than 40 years for the SouthernPacific Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II where he servedin the Army. He was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, HelenStokes; and one brother, Ray Stokes.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Young Stokes, of Gretna; his son,Terry C. Stokes Sr. and his wife, Mary Unser Stokes; threegrandchildren, Theresa Stokes, Julie Stokes and Terry C. StokesJr.; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Katie Stokes and LaurenWheeler Stokes.
Pallbearers will be Terry Stokes Jr., Jimmy Derr, Mike Lofton,Rudy Pope, Kevin Crosby and J.C. Soniat.
